(Sports Network) - Philadelphia 76ers center Jason Smith is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Wednesday.
The procedure will be performed by Dr. David Altchek, the attending orthopaedic surgeon in the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Sixers team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy will serve as an observer.
Smith was originally hurt during normal basketball activity on Wednesday, August 6. No timetable has been set for his return.

The Colorado State product averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 76 games during his rookie campaign last season.
