(Sports Network) - Second-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer and fifth- seeded Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier were among Monday's first-round winners at the $145,000 hardcourt Korea Open.
Peer handled Czech Petra Cetkovska 6-3, 6-4, while Parmentier pasted Korean wild card Sung-Hee Han 6-1, 6-1 at the Olympic Tennis Courts.
A Day-1 upset occurred when Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova overcame sixth- seeded Pole Marta Domachowska 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-3.

Two other results saw Belgian Yanina Wickmayer beat Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) and German Sabine Lisicki level Russian Vera Dushevina 6-1, 6-0.
Five seeds will take to the courts for opening-rounders here on Tuesday, including top-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko, who will meet Slovakian Lenka Wienerova. Kirilenko was last year's runner-up here to American Venus Williams, who is not defending her title this week.
The 2008 Seoul champion will claim $22,900.
