After making it to the hospital under his own power, a young shooting victim succumbed to his injuries late Monday night.

The shooting occurred at 7th Street and Mississippi Avenue SE. The 19-year-old victim was driven in his own car to Greater Southeast Community Hospital and managed to walk into the hospital, but died after his transfer to MedStar. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Police searched the victim's car and found several weapons, including a gun that police identified as a "machine gun."

Ok- speculation with a sound hypothesis. The man was either going to shoot a rival member opposed to him and was ambushed. meaning someone gave the rival a heads up...or.... gang initiation backired. Guarentee, we will never know. The police will doctor the report and finding so that it decreases the effect of crime or crime-related activity in the area.
