(Sports Network) - Iziane Castro Marques scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Atlanta Dream to an 84-79 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Staples Center.
Sancho Lyttle posted 14 points and seven rebounds for the Dream, who snapped a two-game skid and remained in control of gaining a postseason spot. Atlanta is looking for its first-ever playoff berth in its second season after going 4-30 in 2008. Michelle Snow added 12 points in the win.
Lisa Leslie poured in 24 points for the Sparks, who have dropped two of their last three on the heels of a six-game win streak. Candace Parker notched 15 points and 14 rebounds while Tina Thompson added 19 points in the loss.
The Dream went 6-for-20 from three-point range and shot only 37.7 percent overall from the floor, while LA's field goal percentage fell just shy of 46 percent (34-of-74) in the losing cause.
