(Sports Network) - Oklahoma quarterback and reigning Heisman
Trophy winner Sam Bradford has a Grade 2 or 3 sprain of the AC joint in his
throwing shoulder, Sooners head coach Bob Stoops confirmed to The Oklahoman on
Monday.
Stoops added that a timetable for Bradford's return wouldn't be known for
at least a week or two.
The injury is a huge blow to the third-ranked Sooners, who lost their season-
opener to No. 20 BYU, 14-13.
In the waning moments of the first half, Bradford was hit by Cougars
linebacker Coleby Clawson on an incompletion. He landed hard on his right
shoulder and lay writhing in pain on the playing surface. The Sooners opted to
kick a 35-yard field goal with Bradford headed for the sideline, his right arm
hanging limp at his side.
Bradford could be seen on the sideline to start the second half in street
clothes, his throwing shoulder in a sling.
Landry Jones took over under center to start the second half and finished the
contest completing 6-of-12 passes for 51 yards. Bradford was 10-of-14 for
96 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
