(Sports Network) -
AIR FORCE: The Falcons posted their largest win in program history on Saturday
when they demolished Nicholls State by a score of 72-0. The scoring burst was
three shy of the school record, set against Northern Colorado back in 1984.
The margin of victory was one point more than the 69-point defeat of Colorado
State in 1963. Air Force rolled up a 45-0 advantage at the break, setting a
new school mark in that department as well. The Falcons ran the ball 68 times
for 474 yards and eight touchdowns, three coming from Jared Tew and another
two by quarterback Tim Jefferson. The signal-caller also converted 5-of-7
passes for another 102 yards and a score as well. The defense held Nicholls
State to just 1-of-14 on third down and a total of 151 yards. Next up for the
Falcons is Minnesota, another first-time opponent for the academy.

BYU: The Cougars knocked out Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford at the end of
the first half, giving themselves the opportunity to capture the 14-13 upset
win over the third-ranked Sooners at the new Cowboys Stadium in Irving, Texas
on Saturday night. Senior quarterback Max Hall, who was named the Walter Camp
Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week, converted 26-of-38
passes for 329 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning
score late in the fourth quarter to put BYU over the top. The Cougars defense
sent Bradford to the sidelines with a sprained throwing shoulder and as a
result held the Sooners to their lowest scoring output since dropping a 28-10
decision to Texas back in 2006. Still away from home this coming weekend, the
next opponent for the Cougars is the Tulane Green Wave in Louisiana. BYU lost
the only previous meeting between the squads by a 41-27 score in 1998.

COLORADO STATE: Losers of seven straight at Folsom Field heading into Sunday's
contest, the Rams held on to defeat Colorado in Boulder by a score of 23-17.
The Rams were led by senior signal-caller Grant Stucker who, in his first
career start, threw for one touchdown and led CSU on five scoring drives
overall, while Dion Morton recovered an on-side kick attempt by the home team
with 1:55 remaining in regulation to seal the deal. John Mosure reeled in the
13-yard scoring pass from Stucker and was also responsible for a one-yard
scoring run for the victors. This coming weekend the Rams play the first of
two straight home dates when they entertain the Weber State Wildcats. CSU is
2-0 versus the Wildcats all-time, thanks to a 30-6 win in 2006.

NEW MEXICO: Head coach Mike Locksley knew his team was young heading into the
opener against Texas A&M on Saturday, but there's no way he could have
foreseen his squad failing to get into the end zone in a 41-6 setback in
College Station. Aside from a pair of field goals by James Aho, measuring 19
and 48 yards in the second and third quarters, respectively, the Lobos did
very little to distinguish themselves on the football field in the first week
of action. Quarterback Donovan Porterie completed 29-of-40 passes for 210
yards, but was sacked five times, which left UNM with a net of only 21 yards
rushing on 24 attempts. The Lobos open their home slate this weekend when they
welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to Albuquerque. Tulsa currently owns a 3-2
edge in the all-time series, thanks to a 56-14 crushing defeat of UNM last
season.

SAN DIEGO STATE: The Aztecs scored the first points of the game against UCLA
on Saturday, moving out to a 14-3 advantage in the first quarter in fact, but
then the roof fell in and the team bowed in a 33-14 decision at the Rose Bowl.
Ryan Lindley converted 18-of-45 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns, but
he also let loose with three interceptions, keeping the SDSU offense off the
field and handing control of the contest over to the hosts. The Aztecs
finished with a mere 11 first downs and just 39 yards rushing on 18 attempts.
The SDSU home slate kicks off this weekend versus Southern Utah, the only team
on the Aztecs' schedule in 2009 that has never faced the squad from southern
California.

TCU: The Horned Frogs get their 2009 season underway this coming weekend when
they drop in on the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville. This matchup marks
just the second ever between the two squads, with the first going to Virginia
by a score of 20-10 back in 1994.

UNLV: The Rebels scored 10 points in the first quarter against Sacramento
State on Saturday night and never looked back, capturing a resounding 38-3
victory at home in the desert. UNLV registered 216 yards on the ground and
another 250 yards through the air as quarterback Omar Clayton converted 13-
of-17 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown and Mike Clausen stepped in to
complete all four of his attempts for another 37 yards. Running back Channing
Trotter ran for 102 yards and a trio of one-yard touchdowns in the onslaught.
The Rebels play the second of three straight games at home this weekend as
they entertain the Oregon State Beavers. UNLV owns a 3-1 advantage in the all-
time series, yet lost the most recent meeting by a score of 47-17 back in
2002.

UTAH: The Utes won their 15th straight outing last Thursday night when they
held back the Utah State Aggies during an in-state rivalry that ended 35-17 at
Rice-Eccles Stadium. Juco transfer Terrance Cain threw for 286 yards and a
pair of touchdowns in his debut for Utah, while Matt Asiata gained a career-
high 156 yards on the ground and scored a pair of TDs himself as the Utes
posted their 12th straight win in the series. The Utes have an additional two
days to prepare for their next opponent, the San Jose State Spartans on the
road in California. Utah captured a resounding 49-17 win in the most recent
meeting back in 1998, moving the squad to 4-1 in the all-time series.

WYOMING: New Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen recorded a season-opening
win
as the Cowboys defeated Weber State in Laramie by a score of 29-22. The Pokes,
who were last in the nation in scoring last season with just 12.7 ppg, got a
pair of touchdowns from Darius Terry, while receiver David Leonard collected
seven balls for 87 yards to get the team off on the right foot this year.
Kicker Austin McCoy accounted for three field goals to help the home team
along. Next up for the Cowboys is national power Texas at home. The Pokes are
0-2 versus the Longhorns, dropping the most recent meeting back in 1978 by a
17-3 score.
