ARKANSAS STATE: The Red Wolves gave Troy all they could handle, but the
Trojans used a touchdown midway through the final quarter to take a 30-27
decision this past weekend. ASU (1-2) rallied from a 23-10 deficit to take a
27-23 lead in the fourth quarter, but couldn't hang on in its conference
opener. Reggie Arnold rushed for a pair of scores in the loss and quarterback
Corey Leonard threw for 190 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-24 pass attempts.
Brandon Thompkins pulled in four balls for 82 yards and a touchdown, as ASU
suffered its second straight setback. The Red Wolves will face Iowa, of the
Big Ten, this coming weekend.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: Despite holding a 498-364 advantage in total yards, the Owls
were unable to get past ULM this past weekend, as they fell short, 27-25, in
their rally attempt. FAU (0-3), a SBC title contender, was led by Rusty Smith,
who threw for 327 yards and two touchdowns on 30-of-50 tosses. Jason Harmon
was his top target with 11 receptions for 132 yards, while Chris Bonner
pulled in five balls for 76 yards and a score. Alfred Morris even got into the
mix with 122 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. FAU will try to find
its way into the win column this weekend when it hosts Wyoming.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL: The Golden Panthers simply could not slow down Toledo
this past weekend, allowing 566 total yards in a 41-31 setback. FIU (0-3),
which was playing its first home game, totaled 372 yards of offense with a
pair of turnovers in the loss. Quarterback Paul McCall hit on just 19-of-42
tosses, but he finished the game with 224 yards and three total touchdowns.
T.Y. Hilton was clearly his go-to-guy, as he registered nine receptions for
126 yards and a score. The Panthers will hope for a better performance this
weekend, when they take on ULM in their SBC opener.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE: The Blue Raiders racked up 456 total yards and forced five
turnovers, as they opened league play with a 37-21 victory over North Texas.
MT (3-1), which was coming off an upset of Maryland, has now won three
straight games since beginning the season with a loss at Clemson. Quarterback
Dwight Dasher was sensational in the win, throwing for 269 yards and two
scores and rushing for 75 yards and two more touchdowns. Kevin Brown had a
pair of interceptions to lead the defense, which had three picks in the game.
The Blue Raiders will take some time off before returning to action against
Troy on October 6th.

NORTH TEXAS: The Mean Green had trouble avoiding mistakes, as they committed
five turnovers in a conference opening 37-21 loss to Middle Tennessee over
the weekend. North Texas (1-3) gained 470 total yards, but it suffered a third
straight loss because of the mishaps. Riley Dodge threw three picks and lost a
fumble, negating an otherwise decent performance. He finished with 313 yards
through the air and 57 and a touchdown on the ground. Jamaal Jackson led all
players with 11 catches for 82 yards, while Lance Dunbar toted five times for
101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Mean Green will have the week off to
regroup before facing UL-Lafayette on October 10th.

TROY: Levi Brown threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Cornelius Williams with
just under eight minutes left to play, giving Troy a 30-27 victory over
Arkansas State this past weekend. Brown completed 33-of-46 pass attempts for
355 yards and two scores, as the Trojans (2-2) began defense of their SBC
title on a high note. Tebiarus Gill was the team's main target, pulling in 10
passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. Winners of two straight, Troy was able to
overcome 11 penalties by rolling up 507 yards of total offense. Troy will
continue SBC play against Middle Tennessee on October 6th.

UL-LAFAYETTE: The Ragin' Cajuns gained only 222 total yards and turned the
ball over three times, as they were blanked, 55-0, by nationally-ranked
Nebraska over the weekend. Nebraska racked up 433 total yards in the game and
scored on a fumble and interception. The Cajuns (2-2), who have scored just
three points over their last two games, were led by Ladarius Green and his
five-catch, 68-yard performance. ULL has the week off to find its offense and
will return to action against North Texas on October 10th.

UL-MONROE: Trey Revell threw for 207 yards and rushed for a pair of touchdowns
to lead the Warhawks in a 27-25 victory over FAU this past weekend. Revell
completed 18-of-25 throws in the win and also added 48 yards on 11 carries.
Frank Goodin paced the ground game, which racked up 157 yards, with 71 yards
and a score on 18 carries, while LaGregory Sapp hauled in seven balls for 96
yards. ULM (2-2) has alternated wins and losses through the first four games
and will host Florida International this coming weekend.

WESTERN KENTUCKY - The Hilltoppers were unable to break into the win column
once again, falling 38-22 at Navy over the weekend. WKU (0-4) did show some
life on offense with 434 total yards, but it committed three turnovers and was
outgained 373-158 on the ground. Quarterback Kawaun Jakes did a decent job
under center, as he threw for 276 yards and two scores on 22-of-28 attempts.
He was picked off twice, but made up for it by rushing for 44 yards and
another touchdown. Bobby Rainey paced the ground attack with 99 yards on 14
carries and he also caught a touchdown pass. The struggling Toppers will have
the week off before opening a two-game homestand against Florida International
on October 10th.
