(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired guard Antonio Daniels and a future second-round draft pick from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for forward Darius Songaila and guard Bobby Brown.

The 34-year-old Daniels split time with the Hornets and Wizards last season after being part of a three-way trade with the Memphis Grizzlies in December. The 12-year veteran averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 assists in a combined 74 games for the two teams last season.

Originally taken with the fourth overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies, Daniels has played in 867 career games and holds averages of 7.6 points and 3.4 assists with stops in Vancouver, San Antonio, Portland, Seattle, Washington and New Orleans.

"Antonio has the ability to play both guard positions and will provide a veteran presence and added flexibility to our backcourt," said Minnesota president of basketball operations David Kahn. "This trade also provides increased flexibility for personnel moves beginning next summer."

Songaila participated in 77 games for Washington last season, averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds before being traded to New Orleans in June. A veteran of six NBA seasons, the Wake Forest product has averaged 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 410 games for Sacramento, Chicago and Washington.

The Timberwolves traded for Brown in February after the undrafted Cal State- Fullerton product tasted his first NBA action with Sacramento. In a combined 68 games, 21 of which were spent with Minnesota, Brown averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 assists.
