FAIRFAX, Va. - Officials say an investigation into an alleged abduction of a 15-year-old girl is now being classified as a false report.
The incident was said to have occurred on Tuesday near Braeburn Drive and Hillyer Street.
Police initially reported that a student from Woodson High School was walking home from school just before 5 p.m when she claims a man in a pickup stopped and got out. The teen told police he approached and offered her a ride.
"She said no and a little physical confrontation took place. He grabbed her by the arm," said Don Godhardt of the Fairfax County (web | news) Police Department.
Police say the man tried to physically force her inside but the young teen was able to kick and punch her way out of his grasp.
Twenty-four hours after the alleged attempted abduction of the 15-year-old girl, two officers pulled over a white pickup truck on the very block of the alleged incident.
The heavy-set driver and the truck resemble the police description of the alleged suspect. However, the man driving a truck matching the victim's description was found to have no involvement.
Detectives will be seeking charges, officials confirm.
