U.S. Park Police say an 18-year-old Bowie State University student discovered on the side of the road a week after he went missing was in a single-car crash in Beltsville.
Police say Julian McCormick's car left the road and landed at the bottom of a ravine along Powder Mill and Soil Conservation roads near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. He was last seen on September 1st and was found on September 8th. But investigators could not determine why or when he crashed or how long he was in his car before he crawled 30 feet up to the road.
James McCormick later said his son told him that it took days to force open the driver's side door and crawl out of his car.
Julian McCormick is in fair condition at the Washington Hospital Center, where he's being treated for malnutrition, dehydration and other injuries.
