Nine D.C. Area Schools Honored

Nine D.C. Area schools have won Blue Ribbons from the U.S. Department of Education. The award generally goes to schools that score in the top 10 percent on statewide exams or show dramatic gains on scores among disadvantaged students.

In D.C., the award was given to Murch Elementary in Northwest, Banneker Senior High in Northwest, KIPPP DC: KEY Academy in Southeast and Our Lady of Victory in Northwest.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?In Maryland, Churchill High in Bethesda and Saint Andrew the Apostle in Silver Spring made the list. Burleigh Manor Middle School in Ellicott City and River Hill High School in Clarksville were also on the list.

In Virginia, Saint Joseph School in Herndon received the award.

It may be insulting, but I believe I saw more DC schools on the list than those of NOVA. LOLOLOL
