Pigs Roam Upscale Mich. Neighborhood
posted 6:23 pm Fri October 05, 2007 - GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich.
Nobody is quite sure how two potbellied pigs wound up in an upscale Grand Rapids-area neighborhood. The wayward swine were spotted about 7 a.m. Wednesday. Animal control officers quickly netted one of the pigs, but they needed a little more time to capture the second one as it raced across tidy lawns surrounding $300,000 houses. The Grand Rapids Press says the pigs are thought to be escaped pets. They were housed at the Kent County Animal Shelter, but no one immediately claimed them.

Local resident Laurie Blase says she doesn't know of any neighbors who kept pet pigs.
