Another Day of Record-Setting Heat

Tuesday marks another record setting day across the Washington area.
"I think it's very strange," Diana Everline said. "But I'm taking full advantage of it. It's great to be outside. " But as many soak in the sunshine, some apartment complexes can't cool off. Residents at the Silver Hill Lake apartment complex in Greenbelt who opt to have their utilities included in the monthly rent had their air conditioning turned off October 1st.
"Around 1:00 p.m. it's terrible," Gregory Ampey said. "You can't take it, you just have to get out of the house."
Meanwhile, retailers are trying to heat up frozen sales. At the College Park REI store, hats and gloves sit on store shelves. Management said sales of winter gear is soft compared to this time last year.
According to the National Weather Services, the temperature at Reagan National, Dulles and BWI airport each reached 94 degrees Tuesday. That's 20 degrees above normal and a new record for each airport.
Forecasters predict things will cool off some by Wednesday.
