Waldorf Family Escapes Blaze
posted 2:53 pm Fri October 12, 2007 - Waldorf, Md.
Rubble is all that remains of a Waldorf family's home after an early morning house fire. Firefighters were called to the home in the 4300 block of Dr. Samuel Mudd Road before five o'clock Friday morning.
Chief Dan Stevens of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department says the home is a total loss.
All five residents, two parents and their three boys, made it out safely. Stevens says the couple's 12-year-old son woke up and alerted his family.
About 40 firefighters battled the blaze for 25 minutes to get it under control. It took another hour to put out all the hot spots.
Maryland state Fire Marshals are trying to figure out what caused the blaze.
