Ark. State to Launch Center for Wounded Veterans
posted 12:15 pm Sun October 14, 2007 - JONESBORO, Ark.
Arkansas State University will launch a new program next semester to help provide medical and psychological care to wounded members of the military.
Chancellor Robert Potts says the Beck PRIDE Center for America's Wounded Veterans will take in 50 veterans during its first phase. The center is named after ASU graduates Charlotte and Buddy Beck of Fairfax, Virginia, who came up with the idea.

Potts says the Becks provided a "seven-figure gift" to help start the center. Potts says the program would cost upward of $500,000 a year in the beginning, with hopes of receiving future state or federal funding to take in more veterans.
