Police Investigate Gas Station

A Chevron station in Southeast D.C. is under police investigation after police found 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel there that came from a tanker stolen at gunpoint in Baltimore on Friday.
The fuel was found in an underground storage tank at the station, at 3011 Martin Luther King Avenue. The tanker was found near that location, empty and abandoned, on Friday. Baltimore City Police have taken over the case and the gas station remains open at this time.
Police say the fuel had been unloaded by a pump on the stolen truck.
The fuel is Number 2 diesel that is usually used for heating or to power tractors and other off-road vehicles. Gas stations don't usually sell it, which caused speculation that either the hijacker or the gas station owner thought it was regular gasoline.
The diesel still has a retail value of about $20,000.
Authorities have questioned the gas station owner by he is not being charged at this point. Investigators say the owner claims he was not expecting a delivery and is not sure why it was dropped off.
Police wouldn't say whether they're close to an arrest.
