The preseason media poll in the Atlantic Coast Conference puts the Maryland basketball team in the middle of the pack.
North Carolina got all 64 first-place votes in the poll. Duke, North Carolina State, Clemson and Virginia round out the Top Five. Maryland was sixth, followed by Georgia Tech, Boston College, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Miami. North Carolina junior All-American Tyler Hansbrough headlined the preseason all-conference team and was Monday's runaway choice as player of the year.
Joining Hansbrough on the preseason team were Virginia's Sean Singletary, Boston College's Tyrese Rice, N.C. State's Brandon Costner and North Carolina's Ty Lawson.
Duke's Kyle Singler was the pick for rookie of the year.
