"HarleyFanNow," I agree with you; I'm a full time pedestrian and I try to cross at crosswalks, with the lights and walk signals. When I have to walk where there' s no sidewalk, I walk facing traffic. If it's dark, I carry a lit flashlight so drivers can see me. And I'm not on a cell phone, IPod, or anything else that would distract me. I've noticed too many other pedestrians take too many chances out there. That being said; I've also almost been run over many times, even though I AM crossing at crosswalks with the light and traffic signals (in broad daylight). All of us, when we're out and about, need to be 100 percent aware of what is around us and ready to react at a moments' notice. There's no place for carelessness out on the streets.

It seems like there are crazy car/pedestrian accidents daily.

What is going on out there? Pedestrians AND drivers need to be on guard.

And watch out for the nut cases running amok on bicycles.
