Metro has identified the Metrobus driver who died Thursday morning after he was struck by a semi on I-395 when his bus broke down just before 6 a.m.

Thirty-seven-year-old Keith Dodson of D.C. was pronounced dead at George Washington University Hospital. Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says the bus had no passengers when it broke down about 5:45 a.m. on its way to King Street Station in Alexandria. The bus became disabled on the access road from South Glebe Road to southbound I-395 at Shirlington Circle. Metro says Dodson got out of his bus to figure out what was wrong. Arlington County police say it appears a car noticed the disabled bus and slowed down. That car was hit by a tractor-trailer, sending it into the gap between the bus and the guardrail. The semi followed the car, striking and fatally injuring Dodson.
