Virginia Democrats Launch Election Campaign
posted 4:06 pm Tue October 30, 2007 - McLean, Va.
Virginia Democrats have kick-started the final leg of their effort to wrest control of the state Senate from the Republicans.
Governor Tim Kaine started his cross-state blitz Tuesday in McLean, exhorting about 100 activists to turn out Democratic voters in the November 6th elections. Kaine also made personal calls to voters from the party's Fairfax County headquarters. Democrats can retake the state Senate by winning four or more seats Republicans now hold. In the House of Delegates, they would have to win 11 seats, a tougher challenge.
Other well-known Democrats will make stops over the next week, including Senator Jim Webb and former governor Mark Warner, who's running for U.S. Senate.
