That program "All Hands On Deck" really is working... (snickering here) .. I think this mayor should be run out of town on a rail. He's even worse than Mayor Barry.

This is exactly what happens when you mix a large group of people and alcohol. It simply won't go smoothly. I hate to say it but I suppose Georgetown and the rest of the places that celebrate will someday simply have to shut down. It's a shame that there are a few out there that spoil all the fun of the times. It reminds me of years ago and my mom telling me about the Glen Echo Amusement Park. We use to do that around here but unfortunately there were race riots and therefore the park closed. Being small I didn't understand that but it's just wrong to punish innocent folks who are there to have fun because of some morons with guns.

Is this article about 6 shot, 1 dead..or parking and illegally registered car?..I am lost! DC has been a mess for years, one can not blame it on a mayor that has just been elected. Fenty (althought I am not a fan of his) inheriated this issues. One must blame it on the mayors of the past and the Fed's (being that DC is not a state)not getting a handle on the situation. It should also be blamed on parents allowing their young kids to run a muck. Bad *$$ kids turn in to criminal adults.

Chief Lanier may be like a doctor. When a person contracts a deadly virus, the doctors aggressively experiment with various antibiotics to see what will work, so when another person has that same deadly virus, they would know what to start administering. Chief Lanier is planning on an all hands on deck weekend. I feel she is trying to do the same thing -- administering whatever tactics she feels may work, and if she is successful, then that plan would more than likely stay in place. The citizens will be able to enjoy more outside activities, walk the streets any time of the day, attend church services in the evenings, etc. Am I dreaming or typing in my sleep, or what?

ladyc2312 - how is this possibly Mr. Fenty's fault? The gun laws have been in place for decades...the drug gangs and latino gangs in these areas have been battling for years. He's been mayor for less than a year. He made his first priority the education of children and I, for one, totally agree with that priority.

Chief Lanier has been trying lots of new strategies to combat the crime problems. I shiver to ask what you would do differently.

Are you saying that you can't park in your building's parking lot because someone at another address owns your car?

Why don't you properly and ?Legally? license your own car in your own name at your own address? Problem solved. I'm not sure how this is related to the news story but I guess you feel it is.

I'm not sure why your rental manager is prohibiting cars not registered to tenants...wait - probably to keep a bunch of cars out that don't belong to residents and therefore keep the parking spaces available for legit residents?

How can we empathize with your situation if you won't respect the law and properly register your car????

I am sorry you have those shootings going on in your neighborhood. I know from experience that it is difficult to feel safe in your home when there is gunfire outside.
