(Sports Network) - Kansas City's Tony Gonzalez became the all- time leader in receiving yards by a tight end in Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Gonzalez broke the record with a six-yard catch in the latter stages of the first quarter. The reception gave him 10,064 career yards, surpassing Shannon Sharpe's previous record of 10,060.
Gonzalez is also the career leader in touchdowns and receptions by a tight end.

A first round pick of the Chiefs in 1997, Gonzalez entered Sunday with 838 receptions and 68 touchdowns.
