A water main rupture that left dozens of high-rise apartment residents without service has been repaired, officials said Tuesday.
The break in the 1900 block of Jamieson Avenue in Alexandria (web|news) was reported around 11:30 p.m. Monday, said David Barney with Virginia American Water Company. Barney says that crews started working then to find and fix the break about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Initial estimates were that the work would be done by 9:00 a.m., but that was later revised to noon.
Four high-rise apartment buildings in the area were without water service until the repairs were finished about 11:15 a.m.
