Three thieves' grand plans to break into cars and steal GPS units, stereos, credit cards and cash were arrested Monday after their getaway car was towed, Stafford police said.
Several residents reported having property stolen from their vehicles in the area of Stafford County's England Run early Monday morning. One of those residents, who had his car and his wife's car broken in to, spotted the alleged thieves in front of a 7-Eleven near Old Forge subdivision later that day and called police.
An officer in the area was able to confront the suspects, who, according to police, had electronics and stolen guns in their possession. The suspects told the officer that they were making an attempt to retrieve their car after it had been towed. All three men were eventually taken in to custody.
Joshua Mason, 20, of Stafford, and 22-year-old Levon Spence, of Spotsylvania, are facing grand larceny and credit card fraud charges. Mason was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon as a felon. A teen, 17, from Fredericksburg is also facing multiple charges.
All three suspects are currently being held in Rappahannock Detention Centers.
