WASHINGTON - The woman accused of abducting a 5-year-old boy in Alexandria (web|news) and keeping him for 13 hours was removed from a federal courtroom in the District Tuesday after several outbursts.

Falah Octavia Nulgun Joe, 28, of Falls Church, appeared in U.S. District Court Tuesday. She faces federal kidnapping charges for the alleged abduction of  Kamron Wells, who disappeared Sunday morning while on a shopping trip with his family in Alexandria. He was found safe hours later at a home in Northwest D.C. and reunited with his family

Joe, a former stripper, had previously pleaded guilty to assault charges after trying to attack an ex-boyfriend during his 2003 sentencing. He had been convicted of killing someone at the D.C. club where she worked.

But when the Assistant U.S. Attorney raised the issue during a routine hearing Tuesday, Joe began to shout in court.

"I didn't stab no one," she yelled. "This is [b.s.] I don't want to hear this."

She also addressed the kidnapping charge, saying, "I didn't kidnap nobody. That little boy was out in the cold by himself. His father left him out there."

Marshals removed Joe from the courtroom. The judge ordered a recess. When Joe returned, she was silent.

Attorneys revealed Joe just spent 30 days in jail for failing to get court-ordered mental health treatment. She was released just days before Wells' alleged kidnapping.

Joe is scheduled to return to federal court in D.C. on Thursday.

Meantime, Kamron Wells' family says the 5-year-old boy seems to be fine after his bizarre ordeal.

"He seemed unphased," said his mother, Lanashia Wells. "He's back to being his usual self, we're grateful for that."

So far investigators have found no connection at all between Falah Joe and Kamron Wells' family.

Investigators credited a D.C. man, Milton Mooya, with helping police find the missing boy, Kamron Wells. Mooya was watching football at him home early Monday when a friend stopped by with a woman and child in tow.

Mooya immediately became suspicious, he said.

"When they came in, she was like, 'That's my son.' He kept saying, 'That's not my mom.' Of course, I heard the Amber Alert, put two and two together," recalled Mooya.

The woman fled after Mooya made reference to the Amber alert, he said. Mooya chased her while his friend flagged down a D.C. police officer, who detained the woman, later identified by police as Falah Joe.

Kamron's real mother was impressed he spoke up and said Joe wasn't his mom. "The fact that he said that's not my mom, that's brave of him to do that," said Lanaisha Wells.

Kamron Wells, 5, was reunited with his family after his 14-hour ordeal.
The surveillance photo that led police to suspect foul play was involved in Kamron Wells' disappearance, leading to Sunday's Amber Alert.
Milton Mooya contacted police after Kamron Wells and the suspect, Falah Joe, showed up at his NW D.C. home about 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Metrobus driver Jennifer Edwards told investigators she had spotted the boy and a woman boarding her bus about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Surveillance video from the bus will be used as evidence.
SWAT team members raid Falah Joe's Falls Church home on Monday afternoon. Police would not say what they were looking for.
Around 2:15 a.m., police reunited Kamron with his family at a command post in Fairfax County (web|news) . "It was crazy; I'm just glad the child is safe," Mooya said.

Investigators haven't said why Joe allegedly took Kamron Wells from the shopping center. Wells told investigators he did not know Joe, according to court documents.

"This is a serious case that troubles us as police officers and as parents," Col. David Rohrer, Fairfax County Chief of Police, said. "It was very rewarding for all involved in this investigation as well as the family to find Kamron safe last night and to reunite him with his family."

Fairfax County police believe Kamron most likely wandered away from his grandfather at an Alexandria grocery store Sunday morning. They don't believe Joe lured the boy out of the store.

"The evidence we have, witnesses we spoke with -- one did place him walking out of the store on his own," said Chief Rohrer.

Later in the day, officers found viewed surveillance video of a woman holding Kamron's hand.

They issued an Amber Alert about 9:50 p.m.

Police also credit Metrobus driver Jennifer Edwards, who recognized Kamron's picture and remembered picking him up at the shopping center earlier in the day. Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the bus. Investigators identified the woman in the video as Joe, according to court documents.

Investigators worked with the FBI (web) to enter Joe's home in Falls Church Monday afternoon. Investigators would not say what they were looking for. Two children and Joe's parents were reportedly taken by police; Joe's parents were questioned and released.

A quick search of court records indicates Joe has been in trouble with the law before. She was involved in a restraining order dispute in Prince George's County as recently as a month ago. During her court appearance Monday, it was revealed she has previously been convicted of assault and battery and she did jail time after she was convicted of assaulting an officer.

"I can't speak. She didn't hurt my son and I am thankful for that," said Wells.
