(Sports Network) - Oklahoma quarterback and reigning Heisman
Trophy winner Sam Bradford will not play Saturday, when the eighth-ranked
Sooners play No.17 Miami-Florida on the road.
Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops said Thursday that while Bradford had made
progress in dealing with his shoulder injury, "we don't feel like he's quite
where he needs to be yet."
Bradford suffered a shoulder joint sprain in Oklahoma's season-opening loss to
BYU and has been sidelined since. Landry Jones, who will get the start
Saturday, has filled in capably in leading the Sooners to two wins.
For the season, he is 49-of-81 for 673 yards with nine touchdowns and three
interceptions. Jones set a school record by throwing six touchdown passes
against Tulsa on September 19.
"Our team has a lot of confidence in Landry's ability and we're looking
forward to going into the game with him at quarterback," Stoops said. "Our
approach will be the same that it has been in the last two games."
