(Sports Network) - The NBA Board of Governors approved the further expansion of instant replay for the upcoming season.
Referees will now be able to use replay at any point during the game to determine if a shot attempt or foul occurred prior to a 24-second shot clock violation.
In addition, replay can also be used in the final two minutes of regulation play or overtime periods to identify which player last touched the ball prior to it going out-of-bounds or whether the ball was last touched simultaneously by two opponents.
This is the third straight season the Board of Governors expanded replay use.
