(Sports Network) - Jeff Deslauriers stopped 40 shots and Zack Stortini scored a pair of goals to help the Edmonton Oilers snap a seven-game losing streak in Nashville with a 6-1 victory over the Predators at Sommet Center.
Edmonton lost three of four to the Predators last year, including both tests at the Sommet Center, and hadn't won in Nashville since October 29, 2005.
"Our coaching staff is very demanding," said Stortini. "It's great to get the win in here. It's a big two points for us tonight."
Andrew Cogliano and Gilbert Brule each had a goal and an assist for the Oilers, who have lost 11 of their last 13 games to the Preds overall. Denis Grebeshkov and Shawn Horcoff also lit the lamp in the win.
Jason Arnott scored for the Predators, who dropped their second straight game after opening the season with consecutive wins. Pekka Rinne started between the pipes but was victimized for four goals on nine shots and was replaced by Dan Ellis in the second period. Ellis finished with nine stops on 11 shots.
"We didn't play well that's the bottom line, and I think it is that way for everybody," said Rinne. "No one is really happy."
Edmonton was up 4-0 after the first period.
During a two-on-one, Ales Hemsky was skating down the left side of the ice and slid a cross-ice pass to Horcoff, who slapped it into the net at the 7:11 mark of the first.
Brule had a tip-in on Dustin Penner's assist just under four minutes later to make it 2-0. Then, on a power play, Stortini's wrister found the back of the net at the 13:58 mark to give the visitors a three-goal advantage.
Stortini then had a backhander with 29 ticks left, assisted by Cogliano and Jason Strudwick, in the opening stanza to account for the fourth tally of the period.
Cogliano had a backhanded goal 2:07 into the second to make it a five-goal affair and Grebeshkov added a backhanded tally with 2:03 remaining in the frame to make it 6-0.
However, Arnott's tip-in with 49 ticks left in the second closed it to 6-1.
Ellis stopped four shots in the third and Deslauriers turned away 15 in the final frame to keep it a five-goal game.
