WASHINGTON, D.C. - Investigators are searching for a man who attacked a George Washington University grad student with a hammer on Friday.

Police say the student was using the bathroom in Duques Hall when a man came out of another stall and hit him on the back of the head with a hammer.

The victim was transported to George Washington Hospital for a major, but non-life threatening head injury. He was later released from the hospital.

The suspect is described as a bald, possibly Middle Eastern man between 25 and 40 years-old. Authorities say he is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall with a stocky build, wearing three-quarter-length, light-colored pants, a long-sleeve, dark-colored shirt and carrying a backpack.

Investigators believe the attack was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
