Critics are speaking out after conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh, known for his strong words on the airwaves, placed a bid to become part-owner of the St. Louis Rams.
"I didn't like the Rams before, but now I definitely won't like the Rams," stated Brian Randolph, a football fan.
The opposition also comes from some NFL players, including quarterback Donovan McNabb. Six years ago, Limbaugh made a comment about McNabb that many people interpreted as being racist. Limbaugh said," I think that we've had here a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
McNabb offered a statement about the potential sale.
"I won't be in St. Louis no time soon," he said.
Locally, some football fans plan to react to Limbaugh's bid as well.
"I probably wouldn't watch any of the games," Randolph said.
Other football fans don't seem to mind what happens with the deal.
"If Jerry Jones can own the Dallas Cowboys, why not?" asked Leslie Mansir, a football fan.
Limbaugh offered his own opinion, placing blame on the media for the growing controversy.
"They have to go somewhere, find concocted quotes, which are now bordering on... They use slander, libel, whatever it is, and I never said, and they believe it," he said.
The NFL isn't offering any information on the bid. Some players already say they don't plan on playing for the Rams if the deal goes through.
