(Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants announced on Tuesday that manager Bruce Bochy and general manager Brian Sabean will remain with the club after reaching two-year contract extensions with club options for the 2012 season.

Financial terms of the deals were not announced.

"These contract extensions reinforce our confidence in both Brian and Bruce's leadership in the near and longer term," said Giants managing general partner and chief executive officer William Neukom. "Brian has proven his capabilities as a talented and effective baseball executive and we are impressed by the job Bruce has done the last three years. We are confident in their abilities to lead our club going forward."

Bochy, who took over for Felipe Alou following the 2006 campaign, saw his three-year and more than $2 million per year contract expire following the 2009 regular season.

Prior to joining San Francisco, the skipper spent the previous 24 seasons in the San Diego organization as a player, coach and manager. The former big league catcher had success with the Padres, guiding the club to four division crowns and a trip to the World Series in 1998.

With 15 straight seasons managing a major league club, the 54-year-old Bochy sits behind Tony LaRussa (31 years), Bobby Cox and Joe Torre (20) as the longest current tenured managers.

In 15 seasons, Bochy has an overall managerial record of 1,182-1,230. He is 231-255 in three seasons with the Giants. His win total ranks him 39th on the all-time list.

"We are excited to have Bruce continue his work with our organization," said Sabean. "Bruce has consistently demonstrated a relentless work ethic, a strong relationship with his players and sound game strategy. Without question, Bruce is the right field manager to make the Giants a contender year in and year out."

Although the Giants have gone through a dry spell when it comes to postseason play the last six years, the team showed marked improvement in 2009. San Francisco snapped a string of four straight losing seasons with an 88-74 record and remained in contention for a playoff berth until the later stages of the year.

The Giants last reached postseason play in 2003 when they made it to the National League Division Series, but lost to the Florida Marlins in four games.

As for Sabean, he just finished his 13th straight season with the Bay area team, which makes him the longest tenured GM with the same organization.

After spending 1986-1992 as director of scouting and then vice president of player development/scouting with the New York Yankees, Sabean joined the Giants, serving as the team's senior vice president of player personnel from 1993-94. He quickly moved up the ranks to San Francisco's assistant general manager post before taking over the GM position at the end of the 1996 season.

Sabean, 53, is a 24-year veteran of Major League Baseball and has made San Francisco into the NLs third-winningest team over the past 13 seasons behind only Atlanta and St. Louis.

Under him, the Giants have won an NL pennant in 2002 and three NL West Division titles (1997, 2000 and 2003).
