(Sports Network) - The NBA fined Charlotte Bobcats head coach Larry Brown $60,000 and Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins $25,000 on Wednesday for improper conduct towards game officials.
The Bobcats were also fined an additional $60,000 for Brown's actions, which took place during and after Monday's preseason game against Atlanta.
Brown verbally abused the officials during the game and failed to leave the court following his ejection in the third quarter. After the contest, the legendary coach publicly berated the referees, as did Hollins after Memphis' loss to Orlando on Monday.
After failing to negotiate a new contract with its referees, the NBA is using NBADL and WNBA refs in the preseason. If the lockout continues, the same officials will be used in the regular season, which begins on October 27.
