(web | news) running back Clinton Portis was on Washington's sideline in the second half of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a nagging ankle injury.
Portis has been hampered by the troublesome ankle and a calf injury throughout the season but has carried the ball at least 16 times in each game.
The Miami-Florida product had amassed just 338 yards and a touchdown coming into the week and was held to 21 yards on 10 carries on Sunday before exiting.
Ladell Betts took over as Washington's primary running back.
