(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers have exercised the third-year contract option for forward Marreese Speights and the fourth- year options for forwards Jason Smith and Thaddeus Young.
"Thaddeus, Jason and Marreese are three of our young players who have done everything asked of them and continue to show improvement every time they step out on the court," Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said. "We are excited about the way they have developed to this point and we are looking to forward them continuing their careers with the Sixers."
Speights was the Sixers' first-round pick in the 2008 draft (16th overall), and during his rookie season posted averages of 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 79 games.
Young, the Sixers' first-round pick in 2007 (12th overall), averaged 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds last season.
Smith missed all of last season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in an August 2008 workout. He was originally selected 20th overall in the 2007 draft by Miami, and acquired by Philadelphia in a draft-night trade.
Smith averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 76 contests in his rookie season of 2007-08.
