(Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo stopped all 27 shots he faced to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 2-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at General Motors Place.
Henrik Sedin scored for the Canucks, who have won three in a row. Michael Grabner also lit the lamp in the win.
"I think we are really starting to play well as a team, system-wise, and defensively," said Luongo. "That makes my job a lot easier."
Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers let in both goals on 29 shots for the Oilers, who dropped their second straight.
"It's never fun when you lose a game," said Drouin-Deslauriers. "We're going to have to focus and rebound on the next game."
The Canucks got on the board with 2:09 left in the first period during a power play, as Christian Ehrhoff assisted on Grabner's second goal of the season.
Then, at the 9:21 mark of the second period, Mikael Samuelsson assisted on Sedin's wrist shot that made it 2-0.
Luongo stopped seven shots in the first period and nine in the second.
Edmonton pulled the goaltender late in the third, but Luongo rose to the occasion and preserved his first shutout of the season and the 48th of his career.
Game Notes
The Oilers had won four of their last six versus the Canucks coming in, but have now dropped seven of their last 10 in Vancouver.
