(Sports Network) -
CINCINNATI: Zach Collaros filled in just fine for the injured Tony Pike,
throwing for three touchdowns and 253 yards as the Bearcats topped Louisville,
41-10, in a lopsided Big East Conference matchup on Saturday. Pike was
sidelined with a left forearm injury he aggravated in last week's win over
then 21st-ranked South Florida, but Collaros and the running attack solidified
Cincinnati's highest ranking in school history. Collaros completed 15-of-17
passes and added 52 yards on the ground on 11 carries, helping the Bearcats
(7-0, 3-0 Big East) to their best start since 1954, when they won their first
eight contests. The Bearcats head out on the road this coming weekend to
tangle with Syracuse.

CONNECTICUT: Last weekend, junior cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed to
death, shocking the UConn family and the college football world in general.
Football seemed unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but the Huskies
decided to play their scheduled game against West Virginia on the road this
past Saturday. Despite a tremendous effort, the club fell to the Mountaineers
by a 28-24 final. UConn's Cody Endres ended 25-of-41 for a career-best 378
yards with a pair of touchdown passes, but threw three picks in the second
half to derail the offense. The explosive rushing tandem of Jordan Todman and
Andre Dixon combined for 132 yards on the ground. The Huskies welcome the
Rutgers Scarlet Knights to East Hartford for a conference game this Saturday.

LOUISVILLE: The Cardinals were absolutely hammered by undefeated Cincinnati on
Saturday by a 41-10 final. Adam Froman started under center for the Cardinals,
throwing for 42 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-10 attempts. Justin Burke
entered in the third quarter and was also ineffective, ending with just five
yards and an interception on 2-of-5 efficiency. Louisville, which has dropped
eight straight conference tilts, was outgained, 468-275. Cincinnati holds a
28-20-1 edge over Louisville in the annual battle for the Keg of Nails and has
won two straight following a five-game losing streak. The Cardinals will step
out of conference this Saturday to clash with Sun Belt foe Arkansas State.

PITTSBURGH: Bill Stull threw for 245 yards with a pair of touchdowns, as
Pittsburgh routed South Florida, 41-14, in a Big East matchup at Heinz Field
on Saturday. Stull completed 18-of-25 passes and was picked off once, while
freshman Dion Lewis rushed for 111 yards on 23 touches with two scores.
Jonathan Baldwin hauled in six passes for 144 yards and a TD for Pitt, which
has won four straight since dropping a 38-31 decision to NC State and is now
7-1 for the first time since 1982. The Panthers are the only Big East team
that won't be in action this coming weekend.

RUTGERS: Joe Martinek rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries,
leading Rutgers to a 27-10 victory over Army at Michie Stadium last Friday
night. Freshman quarterback Tom Savage finished with 164 yards while
completing half of his 20 pass attempts for the Scarlet Knights, who swept
their five-game non-conference schedule this season. Tim Brown logged 101
yards on four receptions for the victors. Defensively, Rutgers was dominant,
as it limited Army to 213 total yards and 1-of-11 success on third down
conversion attempts. The Scarlet Knights remain on the road this coming
weekend to take on UConn.

SOUTH FLORIDA: Nothing seemed to go right for South Florida in Saturday's
41-14 loss to an outstanding Pittsburgh squad. B.J. Daniels finished 4-of-8
passing for 54 yards and was intercepted twice, and he rushed 15 times for 50
yards for South Florida, which also fell to Cincinnati on October 15th. Mike
Ford had a three-yard TD run in defeat. Backup quarterback Evan Landi
connected on 3-of-5 passes for 36 yards and a TD and was picked off once for
USF. The club finished with a mere 212 total yards while yielding 486 yards to
the Panthers. The Bulls will play host to West Virginia on Friday night in
what figures to be a close and highly entertaining Big East Conference affair.

SYRACUSE: Delone Carter ran for 170 yards and three touchdowns to lead the
Orange to a 28-14 win over the Akron Zips in non-conference play at the
Carrier Dome on Saturday. Carter carried the ball 30 times for the Orange as
they snapped a two-game slide. The team generated 234 yards on the ground on
46 attempts overall. Quarterback Greg Paulus completed 12-of-17 passes for 105
yards as well. Syracuse held Akron to 191 total yards and only nine first
downs. The Orange are clear underdogs in this Saturday's clash with
Cincinnati.

WEST VIRGINIA: Noel Devine ran for 178 yards on 23 carries and broke off a go-
ahead 56-yard scoring run late in the fourth quarter, as West Virginia
overcame an inspired effort from the Connecticut Huskies to post a 28-24 win
on Saturday. Jarrett Brown, labeled a game-time decision during the week while
dealing with a concussion, started under center and was 16-of-27 for 153
yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also scored on the ground,
rushing ten times for 41 yards. Jock Sanders hauled in eight receptions for 81
yards for the Mountaineers, who have won four straight since their lone loss
of the season to Auburn back on September 19th. The Mountaineers will
undoubtedly have a battle on their hands this Friday, as they will play South
Florida in Tampa.
