Stamkos, Lightning crush Senators

Ryan Malone had a goal and two assists, while Alex Tanguay had a goal and an assist for the Lightning, who have won two of three. Mike Smith made 21 saves in the victory.
"I thought we played a really solid game, got out to a big lead," Stamkos said. "Overall it was a solid effort and we deserved the win."
Alex Kovalev and Jarkko Ruutu had the goals for Ottawa, which has lost three of four. Brian Elliott let in all five goals on 27 shots.
The Lightning had nearly total control of the contest, scoring all their goals before the Senators got on the board.
Stamkos got Tampa started with a power-play score at 7:20 of the first period, when the puck caromed off his stick, then hit the foot of Ottawa defenseman Filip Kuba before getting past Elliott.
"I think the first goal set the tone for the game," Senators head coach Cory Clouston said. "You give up an early goal like that it kind of sets the tone for the game."
Then, 4:34 into the second period, Todd Fedoruk made it a 2-0 game after finding the puck in a crowd in front of the crease and sliding it across the goal line.
Martin St. Louis had an unsuccessful penalty shot midway through the frame, but Malone's score with 5:12 left put the Lightning up three.
Stamkos' second goal, again on the man advantage, came 7:09 into the third, after he skated around defenseman Chris Phillips along the right boards and buried the puck past Elliott.
Tanguay scored 80 seconds later to make it a 5-0 game. Ruutu got Ottawa on the board at 10:17, and Kovalev tallied four minutes later, but Smith stopped the remaining shots to seal the win.
Game Notes
Ottawa had won the first meeting between these clubs this season, 7-1, on October 15...Elliott got the start in place of Pascal Leclaire, who is battling the flu...The Lightning were 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Senators were 0-for-3.
