(Sports Network) - Daniel Winnik scored the game-winning goal early in the second period, and Ilya Bryzgalov picked up his third shutout of the season after stopping all 32 shots faced, as the Phoenix Coyotes got by the St. Louis Blues, 2-0, at Scottrade Center.

Taylor Pyatt also registered a goal, while Vernon Fiddler notched a pair of assists for the Coyotes, who were able to build off a 4-1 win at Columbus on Wednesday. Phoenix has won six of its last eight overall. Bryzgalov earned his 11th career shutout.

Ty Conklin stopped 27-of-29 shots for St. Louis, which has split its last six games.

"We have to stop talking about last year," Blues head coach Andy Murray said. "This is now, and we move forward. We have to find a way to get key goals at the right time."

After a scoreless first period, Winnik got the Coyotes on the board 2:48 into the second on a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that got by Conklin on the stick side.

The score remained the same until 2:54 of the third period when Pyatt took a nice feed from Fiddler and flipped a backhander past Conklin to put the Coyotes up by a 2-0 margin.

St. Louis, in desperation mode, elected to pull Conklin in favor of the extra attacker with over 3 1/2 minutes left in regulation but -- despite a flurry of chances -- were unable to solve Bryzgalov.

"This is how we want to play," Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said. "That's a hard-fought game. That's what I think the identity of our team is."

Game Notes

The Coyotes posted a 3-2 overtime win when they met the Blues in Arizona on October 15 to end a four-game slide against St. Louis. Phoenix snapped a brief two-game slide at Scottrade Center and has now taken seven of nine overall in the Gateway City...Phoenix went 0-for-2 on the power play, while St. Louis finished 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
