Metro has reopened the Pentagon station after a small fire and smoke caused an evacuation around 4:45 p.m., leading to major delays on the Yellow and Blue lines.

Metro warns passengers to expect residual delays. Metro ran free shuttle buses between the affected stations, but many passengers chose to walk.

ABC 7/NewsChannel 8's Horace Holmes reported that hundreds of people left the Pentagon station to walk to Pentagon City. More people could be spotted walking down Route 110 and across the Memorial Bridge. In a statement, Metro said the smoke and fire was caused by debris on the tracks, not an arcing insulator as first reported.  The fire was quickly extinguished.

SpareMe
This here is why I do not catch metro and that is sad because I work for them.

Walking across the Memorial Bridge and down 110 was not the brightest or safest thing to do bu tI guess one has to do what one has to do.
