Some commuters who used MARC trains Wednesday evening faced delays because of a collision in Gaithersburg involving a flatbed trailer.

Train 871 was traveling west about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hit a trailer on the tracks near the Metropolitan Grove Station on the Brunswick line. NewsChopper7 caught pictures of the accident. Montgomery Fire and Rescue spokesperson Oscar Garcia said about 35 passengers were on the three car train at the time of the crash. No one was seriously injured.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? The Maryland Transit Authority said trains had to be held in Washington for several hours until the Brunswick line was cleared.

The tracks were reopened about 5:30 p.m., but authorities said trains would be required to travel through the area at reduced speeds.

Garcia said it's unclear why the trailer was in the rail crossing at the time of the collision.

Incidents like this remind me of Austin Powers 2 - where Austin is driving the steam roller less than 1 mph, and this security guard is screaming for him to stop 30-40 feet away and he's so petrified he can't move and gets run over. Trains are like the same thing....they just don't sneak up on you! It's kinda hard for a train to be so quiet you don't know it's coming.....
