Crews Complete the Nationals' New Baseball Field

It may be fall, but it feels like spring at the Nationals' new ballpark, where the baseball field has finally taken shape.
Crews revealed the finished field Tuesday after spreading grass in long strips for the past week.
Gregory O'Dell, the CEO of the D.C. Sports and Entertainment commission announced that the playing field is done as well as the exterior of the stadium.
The Nationals' new field at the stadium will be Kentucky bluegrass, which is better suited for baseball than RFK Stadium's Bermuda grass. Bluegrass is cut a bit longer and slows the ball.
Nationals' head groundskeeper Larry DiVito says striped cuts show up well and it looks better under the lights. The new field is also designed to drain with 45 minutes of a storm.
O'Dell explains that crews still need to complete the stadium's interior and should finish within the next four months.
