NPR Narrows Search for New Location

National Public Radio is closer to picking a new location for its headquarters.
The nonprofit radio station has outgrown its current headquarters at Massachusetts and Seventh Street northwest. It owns that building but is in the market for a new one with at least 400,000 square feet. The programmer has seen rapid growth and an expansion of its online divisions. NPR has narrowed its search to 12 sites in three different areas around the Washington region.
The areas include Southeast Washington near the new baseball stadium, in Northeast near Union Station and in Silver spring.
A spokeswoman said they hope to settle on a location within six months.
