My heart goes out to this family but I am afraid nothing will ever come in the way of another dog, apology or money. Stupid deputies anyway - not only are they trigger happy they evidently can't read either. Oh I just feel so bad for these poor people - I wish they could get out of the state of MD - not just this stupid county. But what can we expect with the ignorant morons running this place. I love my home, I love my neighborhood but I totally dislike what is happening here. I agree with you Eboy!

@ Vas Deferens...

Cute. Because you have a "Glock" the police won't bother you? If you had been in this situation and the police raided your home in error what would you and your Glock have been able to do? At best, you WOULDN'T have been killed on sight. Sheer idiocy. So, rather than teaching your son about police officers (the good and the bad) you're just going to teach him that they aren't ever to be trusted? Fine parenting there. I think that's the number one problem facing many of the broken families in PG county. The cops are the enemy, dad carries a gun, and you need to have a gun to protect yourself from them? Not just any gun, but a "Glock". Wow, it's like a bad music video already.

I suspect you should have neither a child nor a gun.

This is why I plan on purchasing a Glock as soon as possible. I have never trusted the police force. I know people in high school who later became cops and they were all social parasites whose conversations ran the gambit of the local football game to the girl that they were trying to sleep with. Many of these douche bags could easily be candidates for premature abortions. Sadly they will probably end up in the local government at some capacity. I can tell you two things for sure: I will never invite a cop inside my home unless they are a personal friend and I will never tell my son to trust the cops. Respect is something that should be earned not given.

I would be wrong to paint all cops as morons or corrupt individuals. Some cops are good people who are out to serve and do the right thing. Police in general are underpaid when compared against other professions and maybe that is something that needs to be addressed at some point. But if police are to be given more pay then the requirements to make it as a cadet need to be more stringent. Not all cops are idiots, but I will say that the majority of the ones that I have come into contact with tend to be rather short-sighted, smug, sad individuals who use twisted logic to back up their preconceived notions about persons in violation of the "law". many appear to be missing chromosomes. Watching that video of the woman crying saying that she just wanted to hold the dog in the last minutes and that they wouldn't let her go is what I find most disgusting. The police officers says that he felt threatened by the dog. After all there's nothing more threatening than breaking into somebody's house and shooting their pet. It's a good thing the Myers didn't feel threatened.

This just reaffirms what I already suspected and believed, that cops are basically stupid boys running around with armed weapons trying to be the hero in their own movie. Ignoring the fact that the cops were too pumped up on adrenaline or illiterate to notice the address staring them in the face but the fact that it took them 45 minutes to assess the situation and kept the innocents essentially hostage in their own home is frankly deplorable. We are coming closer and closer to a police state with every passing minute. I find it even more appalling that the Myers weren't even given an apology. It must have been somewhat laughable to imaging the conversation that ensued after they shot the dog and decided to make a clean break for it. "Well boys our work here is done...the streets are safe." I can only pray that the victims have a great lawyer and they break the county for every last penny. Prince George's County has been behind the ball on crime ever since I lived there. It's time for an overhaul of the government, police force, and schools. The cops should clearly be fired and have to pay for their crimes. No one that stupid should be armed. If a citizen killed another persons dog than that person would most likely have to serve time, but since these guys are cops they will be given a pass and /or one of them will resign and that's supposed to make us all believe in the system again.

So long as Law Enforcement is "Allowed to get away with it" such as the incident in Charles County this last year when MAX a german Shepherd dog was shot and killed WHILE CHAINED !!!! This WILL continue !!! Deputy Long with Charles County was NOT repromanded for his MURDER of Max, and this deputy will not be repromanded for his murder of this poor family member either !!!! Funny if a criminal shoots a Police dog, it's like killing an officer, but when they shoot our family members it's "Just a dog" and they were "in fear of their life" and the LEO's lives are MORE important than the citizens they are "SUPPOSED" to protect... I used to hold LEO in High regard !! NO MORE !! Enough is Enough and this type of behavior from those who are supposed to PROTECT us can NOT be accepted any longer !!! Pull your heads from out your backsides and get your trigger happy family member murdering knit whits some training for crying out loud !!! BEFORE you all KILL a CHILD !!!! Of course you'll excuse it saying I thought it was a vicous dog !!!

This makes me so sick!! We had the same thing happen in Charles County about a year or so ago. If my memory serves me right a deputy was trying to serve a summons and shot the family dog who was CHAINED up outside. I wonder if that same cop moved to PG County????I hope the Myers have a legal option here, but I have my doubt's. Incidents like these make us distrust an agency that we should have the opposite opinion of. I am so sorry for the Myer's family. Attention PG County Sherrif Dept: Fess up, apologize, and replace their dog !!!! p.s. how about some additional training for your trigger happy "deputy dogs"?

SpareMe
If you thing PG County is broke now...just wait until I finished with my Lawsuit. With the money they would have to give me for my pain and suffering i would bury my dog in a lavish grave with a headstone that said "PG County Sheriff's Office Paid For It" in BIG Bold letters. They would have to rename some County Buildings after me and my sons.

The law must do better. How do you just bust up in someone home!! BY MISTAKE!! How to you know the second you made this mistake and ot try to make right.

I would be that one that drug the PG through the mug just got GP.

People, it is for this very reason you should have firearms in your home and everyone who lives there should know how to use the firearms. The homeowner has everyright to defend themselves, espcially in this situation. If you recall a couple years ago an edlerly man in Texas had the same experience, the police raided his home but he shot and killed three of them and was not charged with murder - as he was defending himself and obviously because the police raided the wrong house. I would not take the chance, regardless of who is at the door, that one of my family members is mistakenly shot by the police - which does happen. Do not fool yourselves thinking the police has your best interests in mind. Only a fool would abdicate his/her resposibility for defending their lives, especially in their own homes, to the police or anyone else.

This is just another example of why people should not trust the police to protect them, it is your responsibility alone.

This couple should get the best laywer they can afford and proceed with criminal charges against the cop who shot the dog and civil charges against all the police officers, the sheriffs dept and the county. Take them to the bank.

Livnfre02.......you strike me as a person with blinders on. Look around you crime is running rampart in the best to the worst places, there is no place safe these days. So get off of prince georges county and pay attention to some of the other " decent , utopic place to dwell"..............Find another dead horse to beat.

livnfre02
I would not only NOT LIVE in PG Cnty, I would never want to drive through PG County. It is a DIRECT REFLECTION on the individuals in office running that county as well as the state. Very embarrasing for the other MD citizens.

livnfre02
If i were in ANY of the political offices in PG County, I would be fully embarrased. Not only is there HIGH crime, but the sheriffs/cops offices cant even admit to a screw up. I agree with the owners to the dog, file something with the internal affairs, hopefully there will be justice served to the MORON actions of the police. They should be not only investigated but put on unpaid administrative leave. Wrong address!! If someone was putting a dog through dog/animal abuse and killed their dog - what do you think would happen to them??!! Same rules should apply to the cops. It amazes me how they state, they were "threatened" WHATEVER!! Make them resign!! Good luck to the owners for results!! - signed, A current dog owner

noiamnotkidding
Eboy, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Eboy
I love the cops, but I tell you, some are just stupider than dirt.

Prettyboy
It's just too bad that this couple wasn't sitting there with a sawed off shotgun and took out these morons. They sure need to die even if they are cops.. I sure as heck would have blown em away.
