A vigil was held Tuesday night for the two teens killed following a crash Monday in Rockville, which also injured one.

The three were traveling southbound on Avery Road near Norbeck Road around 4 p.m. Monday when police said the driver, identified as 19-year-old Jose Miguel Gomez of Rockville, lost control, crossed the yellow line, and struck a tree. A Montgomery County Police spokesperson says 16-year-old Ricardo Orellano, the rear-seat passenger, died Tuesday morning from his injuries at Baltimore Shock Trauma's hospital. The front-seat passenger, 16-year-old Oswaldo Rosales of Sandy Spring, died at the scene. Police say Rosales was not wearing a seat belt.  At the vigil, hundreds filled a field in front of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. Oswaldo's parents were in attendance and his father had a picture of his son pinned to his shirt. Ricardo's mother held onto her son's principal. "I loved him so much. He always made me laugh and he always cared about me."

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Teachers said the young men came to the school to learn so they could create a Wednesday that their loved ones would be proud of. "We've lost two absolutely terrific young men who came to this country with a dream of a better life and tragically that ended."

"Whatever faith that you may have just say a prayer in your own way for the soul of these two young men."

As for the other person injured, Gomez, the driver of the 1997 Nissan Altima, was taken to an area hospital for non life-threatening injuries.  He is listed in good condition. No charges have been filed and the investigation was ongoing.

In the past two weeks, four crashes in suburban Maryland have claimed the lives of nine teens.

No one is exempt from car crashes but it seems to me that kids don't get it. I am sorry for the loss of the families involved and maybe in their deaths teens will wisen up when they get behind the wheel. If they had been wearing seatbelts it may have made a big difference. Not sure if speed was a factor but it probably was.. what a big waste.
