Barry Hosts Turkey Giveaway

D.C. Councilmember Marion Barry hosted his third annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway drive Tuesday.
"This is the third time that we've attempted to do this and with the help of our sponsors each year it's gotten better and better," said Barry. Barry and community members provided Thanksgiving Day turkey meals that included a care package with all the trimmings for 2,000 families gave at the Union Temple Church on the 1,200-block of W Street, SE.
"Through this endeavor we have made it possible for many people in Ward 8 to have an enjoyable holiday," said Barry.

Finally, he is doing something good for DC. Now if he would only keep doing something like this the rest of the year. On a side note, did anyone but me notice the cars some of these "needy" people were driving? I drive a 1996 Honda so based on what I noticed, I guess I qualify for the free food.
