The key word here is illegal as defined by websters dictionary means not according to or authorized by law. The word immigrant as defined means a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence. I work with immigrants hundreds of them, and I asked them are they going to become US citizens they all shouted NO. I asked them then why did they come to this country, they told me they are going to work as much as they can, and send the money to their families in their native country, and when they have to leave they will go back to their country and retire off of american social security. I said OMG! The definition of foreigner means a person belonging to or owing allegiance to a foreign country. We have the incorrect word for them they are not immigrants they are illegal foreigners. Do the politicians care about real americans?

Brittanycs, I feel and pray for you and your family. I am glad that they caught this man. My first thought when this happened was "it's a drunken illegal", I hope that the people of Maryland and this country in general will wake up to the fact that we ran this country without illegals and we can run it again. They come here and drop our propety values and our throw away our way of life. Then they kill, murder and do dispicable things and want us to feel sorry for them. I hope you and your family have the strength to get through this act of murder. I also hope that your family as well as all families that have been effected by illegals can stand together and make the people and politicians open there eyes to the toll these illegals have taken on this country. We close our eyes because we don't want to pick fruit or do yard work and are not willing to see what is really happening. My god bless you and your family during this troubling time.

This is how the illegals justify being here, for each one in this country, they have to kill someone who already lives here. These drunken people are out of control and need to go back to there own country of origin. Get rid of them before they get rid of us. Between the alcoholics and gangs that they have brought into the country I see no reason that they can't take over this country in the next ten years by killing us off 1 at a time. Who are the real terrorist.

Brittanycs: I'm sorry for your loss. Please make sure you and others don't ever vote for those who support giving anything to illegal aliens except a free ride out of this country. Americans are mad at Republicans and want them out. What they don't consider are the stands on illegal immigration by those they vote into office. They have elected Democrats and are now finding out what a mistake that was. Democrats will give illegals everything they want and more. If you don't believe it, listen to what they say and purpose.

What is it about the word ILLEGAL that our state governments don't seem to understand? We are all too worried about politcal correctness that we have forgotten that people should be obeying the laws of our land. How many lives have to be lost because of our loose borders!

I am Ruth's 17 year old daughter. She also had a 30 year old son and another 25 year old daughter. I am personally outraged at the maryland government for allowing this wreckless, pathetic excuse of a human being to obtain a VALID driver's license. This man obviously has NO sense of compassion for anything or anyone. He hit my innocent mother with his car and drove off leaving her there to die. He murdered my Mom, the woman who meant the world to me. My family and I will make sure that he is punished to the full extent of the law. This cannot happen again, I would hate for another family to go through what my family has in the last few weeks. My brother and I lost our father in March. We were just now starting to move past from that and then this happens. And there's only one person to blame, Rodolfo Ramirez, who shouldn't have even been in this country to begin with.

Thanks to our generous, spineless MD politicians, and the open door policy of the MD DMV to issue a driver's license to anyone that walks thru the door, another life is lost because of an illegal.

Yeah, yeah, citizens are involved in hit and runs. But, if our immigration laws were enforced, this is one lady who would still be alive today.

I doubt he'll get much. At most, he would be deported and just come back in a few months.

Gee, an illegal with a driver's license. What a shocker. Our liberal politicians allow this because it will make things safer. Ha! Tell that to Ruth Ann's family. Since this accident apparently was not Mr.Illegal's fault, I assume he will eventually get his license back. If that was his car, is it insured in case there is another victim to pay for him being on the street? How does having a drivers license make anything safer for the public?

I hope he serves a long term in prison and than is deported. I'm disturbed by the following "The Laurel Police chief said if Ramirez had stopped at the scene, he would not have been charged." Now some lawyer is going to grab on to that and say the guy was scared because he is an illegal immigrant....

This is so tragic. I read that the son, who's 15 lost his dad back in March. I hope that the judge sits on him for this "hit and run". He deserves big time in the slammer for not stopping and rendering aid.
