Adams Morgan Muggings

Some residents of D.C.'s Adams Morgan neighborhood say they don't feel safe leaving their homes after dark following a rash of muggings.
One victim didn't want to give his name but he shared his story with ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 reporter Jennifer Donelan. He and his girlfriend were walking near Kalorama and Ontario roads about nine o'clock Friday night when they were surrounded by four people with hoods covering their faces.
"One of them pulled out a gun, asked for my wallet, my watch - pointed the gun at my girlfriend's head," said the victim.

The couple quickly gave the robbers everything they had.
"It's a scary experience" "It's extremely upsetting."
One hour later, just blocks away a female victim was walking with a group of friends at Summit Place and 18th Street, when she was accosted.
"I heard someone say, 'Hey, hey, hey." I turned around and an individual had a pointed a gun at the entire group."
That gunman was joined by three other assailants, at least one of them, she says, also had a gun.
"It's well lit... and we were in a large group there were six of us, two males, four females - we thought we'd be fine."
"I shouldn't have to live this way."
This note was tacked up at a condo building on Lanier Place from a resident who said she was mugged just outside the front door around seven Wednesday night.
"It's really scary to think you're not safe walking into your front door."
In response to the increasing reports from neighbors, resident Jonathan Luniard launched a new website Monday called
adamsmorgancrime.org.
"We're not going to sit, we're going to do something," said Luniard.
