Judge Dismisses Immigration Suit Against Prince William
   posted 11:00 am Fri November 30, 2007 - Alexandria
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging parts of Prince William County's recent efforts to clamp down on illegal immigrants. At a brief hearing Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Judge James Cacheris said the plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge the resolution passed earlier this year by the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.

Among other things, the resolution requires police to check the immigration status of people they detain if they believe the person is an illegal immigrant.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?County attorneys had argued that the plaintiffs could not demonstrate that they had suffered any harm under the resolution.

Plaintiff lawyer Christina Sarchio said she is considering an appeal.
