RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia's Agriculture (web|news) chief says it's easier than you think to celebrate Thanksgiving with locally produced foods and beverages.

Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Todd P. Haymore said Thursday that many farmers' markets will be open through the end of November. And, there's a wide variety of fall and winter vegetables. He says many supermarket managers post signs indicating that food is grown locally or in Virginia.

Haymore says his family's holiday menu would include Virginia peanuts, Virginia turkey, potatoes, squash, pumpkin, Virginia wine for the adults and milk or apple juice for his three daughters.
