- (Sports Network) - Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has reportedly been fined $50,000 for a pair of low hits on Texans' quarterback Matt Schaub in last Sunday's 28-21 win over Houston.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the fine was for what the league ruled were two instances where Allen "struck the opposing quarterback below the knee area." The $50,000 matches the largest single-game fine doled out by the NFL this season.
Schaub, meanwhile, is expected to miss up to a month after suffering a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee as a result of one of the hits.

Allen was also fined $5,000 by the league for jumping on a pile of players after a run in a Week 7 loss to Chicago. The fifth-year pro out of Idaho State plans to appeal both fines.
Allen is listed as doubtful for Sunday's divisional bout with the Green Bay Packers with a shoulder injury.
